Usage Guidelines 

Follow standardized operation rules to extend service life and maintain steady link performance of your BiDi SFP Transceiver:

1. Complementary Pairing Requirement Bidirectional transceivers must be deployed in matched wavelength pairs. This TX1490/RX1310 BiDi SFP Module requires a counterparty TX1310/RX1490 transceiver at the opposite fiber end; mismatched wavelength pairs cannot establish valid fiber links.
2. Fiber Type Restriction Only use standard 9/125μm single mode fiber (SMF) with LC/UPC patch cords. This transceiver cannot operate normally on multi-mode fiber (MMF), which triggers severe attenuation and persistent random bit errors.
3. Distance & Attenuation Control Optimized for stable 40km single-fiber links. For lab testing or field deployment under 15km, an external optical attenuator is mandatory to prevent receiver overpowering, signal saturation and permanent internal optical chip damage.
4. Optical Port Dust Protection LC optical ports and fiber end faces are highly sensitive to dust and fingerprint contamination. Always reinstall protective dust caps on idle module ports and unused fiber connectors after disconnection.
5. Hot-Plugging Operation Guidance This MSA-compliant BiDi SFP Transceiver supports safe hot swap. Leave several seconds between removal and reinsertion to let Cisco IOS complete full hardware recognition and avoid unexpected link flapping.
