Q1: Will this module work in my HP switch without "Non-HP" warnings? A: Yes. Our modules are programmed with authentic HP EEPROM signatures. Your switch will identify the module as J4860A, ensuring it initializes immediately without port-locks or persistent warning messages in the system logs.
Q2: Does J4860A support 80km distance? A: Yes. Although the LH standard is sometimes labeled as 70km, the high-quality 1550nm laser in the HYTOPTODEVICE version provides a sufficient power budget to reach 80km on high-quality G.652 single-mode fiber.
Q3: Can I use this 1G SFP in a 10G SFP+ slot? A: Yes. Most HP and Aruba SFP+ slots are backward compatible with 1G modules. On some models, you may need to manually configure the port speed to 1000Mbps if it does not auto-negotiate.
Q4: Do I need an optical attenuator for short fiber runs? A: YES. This is a high-power long-haul laser. If your fiber link is shorter than 20km, you MUST use a 10dB-15dB LC optical attenuator to protect the sensitive optical receiver from being damaged by excessive light.
Q5: Is J4860A the same as J4860C? A: They are functionally the same. The "C" version is a later revision of the "A" model. Our HYTOPTODEVICE module is coded to be compatible with systems requiring J4860A, J4860B, or J4860C.
