Usage Guidelines & Best Practices
Fiber & Port Matching
Use standard G.652.D duplex single-mode fiber (SMF) with LC-PC/UPC connectors. Multimode fiber is not supported and will fail to reach 80km. Ensure the SFP port supports 100Mbps mode before insertion.
Installation & Hot-Swap Rules
Supports MSA-compliant hot-swapping. Insert/remove gently without powering down the device. Keep dust caps on unused LC ports and avoid frequent re-plugging.
Link Loss Budget
Offers a 34dB link budget for 80km reach (including connectors/splices). If link flapping occurs, inspect and clean optical interfaces.
Operating Environment
Commercial grade: 0°C to 70°C in indoor environments. Keep away from extreme heat, moisture, and dust for long-term stability.
Real-Time Monitoring (DDM)
Use integrated SFF-8472 DDM to monitor Tx/Rx power, temperature, and voltage in real time to prevent sudden outages.
Optical Attenuation (Crucial)
Never direct-connect! Since Tx reaches up to +5 dBm, install a 15–20 dB inline attenuator at the Rx port during lab/short-link testing to keep input power below -8 dBm and prevent receiver burnout.
